Breaking the Ice
With the deep freeze upon us, Mike drove out to check on the horses at Middle Grove. Surprisingly they were not using the automatic waterer instead they are breaking through the ice to drink. The heated waterer is costing around $60.00 a month for electricity that the horses are shunning, go figure.
We are actually thrilled to know the horses are wise enough to do this.
We had a light day at work, probably because the prisoners were all out celebrating Eva Jean's 80th birthday instead of doing their studies. We got one letter today that we just had to laugh over. It started like this: Thanks for the Bible, I can tell it is a cheap one. Do you have any bookmarks or calenders?
Well if they thought the Bible was a cheap one, we are certainly not going to send them anything else! Just so you know, these Bibles are not cheap, they are giant print and cost the church $17.00 each, then it costs us in postage $3.32 each to mail and if the prisoner has been transferred we have to pay another $3.32 to get it back.
After work the truck and trailer were taken down to TSC and a couple hog panels purchased. Tomorrow we will need to move in new round bales, sure hope this works.
A really neat email came in from one of our Bible study graders:
Dear Judy,
I was down to my last 3 stamps, and here clipped to one of the lessons was a package of 100 stamps!
Thank you Lord for your provision!!! Please thank you, or whoever provided them!!! It goes a long
way to helping send out the lessons. I told the Lord when I started correcting lessons, that as
long as He provided, I would buy stamps. It's been over a year now, and I have had stamps
for every lesson! Please be sure to thank the generous person!
For now, Rod
We sure appreciate everything big or small that people willingly put into this program. A big thanks to who ever donated the stamps!
And now for a little levity on this bitterly cold day:
