We're Home

We had a very successful day. The fair wasn't near as crowded today but we still had plenty of people wanting to talk to us. As I was making cotton candy 3 young girls came up and asked if I was the evil queen. Of course that brought a laugh. They were asked if they booed her and surprisingly they said, "no, We thought she was GREAT!" This year we didn't do as well as far as fund raising but the Horsemeister name sure got out. Many many people knew us or of us sometimes calling us by name. Right after the vaulting demonstration we started tearing down our stalls, loading the trucks and getting ready for our trip home. We were able to leave around 4:00pm and our convoy of Amy's truck, Emily's truck, Karin's car, Monica's truck and trailer hauling Eisis and Eliza, Steven's truck and trailer hauling Ribbon, Jenis, Ylse, and Zalena along with my truck and trailer hauling Valiant and Evan met at Steak and Shake for dinner at our half way point in Lincoln, IL. We let the manager and the waitress know we had horses standing in a trailer and needed to be quick about dinner and they were great to accommodate us getting us served within minutes. We had such fun rehashing the weekend. This stop is a tradition for us each year and each year we have a wonderful time going over the high points. Horsemeister sends a HUGE thank you to all of these wonderful workers! What a great team we made. The weather was awful and we had to drive home in a snow storm but we still made it by 6:30pm. Steven moved in a round bale for the mares and square bales for the kids before he took off for home. I headed in to work on videos. This first video is the Friesian demo during the first night of Horsecapades. It wasn't a full crowd but the kids got a wonderful ovation.

The next video is of the vaulting team's Saturday performance at the breed and sport demo.

We thought each performance should be video taped and uploaded. Each performance is just a bit different. The next video is of the Saturday Friesian breed and sport demo.

Then came the Saturday night performance of the Horsemeister Friesians in the sold out coliseum.

Then came the Sunday performance of the Friesians.

And finally the last performance of the Heart of IL Vaulters.

Sunday is always a bit of a let down after the huge crowds on Saturday but still the vaulters enjoyed performing and the people that were there loved watching them.
I will be so glad to go to bed tonight. Tomorrow is a work day and then Tuesday I move into Methodist Hospital for a total right hip replacement. And they said I should rest up for this. Just exactly how does one do that?
