Anna sent pictures of the two tournaments the girls were in over the weekend. Taegan was player of the game.
Her team came in 3rd overall in the nationals of 6th graders. What an amazing finish for this small town team.
Kensley's team actually won the 4th grade division!
This was a national tournament so all the parents and players were excited. Well DONE girls!
I overslept not getting up until 6:00 am. That made the morning chores a little rushed but still got everything done before our walk. Joan has company from Athens and wanted to spend the day at Middle Grove and the Giant Goose Ranch. Diane and Ruth alternated and took her place. After breakfast Mark and I took the truck to Phil's house to pick up the scaffolding, brought it back to the barn and put it together.
This will make it much easier to put up the ceiling tiles on those 12 foot ceilings. Nolan and Sarah are coming tomorrow to help so we wanted to have everything ready. After getting that done the dishes were put away and the kitchen area cleaned up. I left then for Sam's club buying $350 worth of groceries and paper goods for our Sceggel vacation. We leave Saturday morning for Branson, MO. I didn't get everything we needed but made a good start. All the fresh produce will need to be purchased on Friday to keep it fresh and I decided to buy the 15 pounds of bacon at Aldi as I like the taste better. The supplies today were taken straight to the barn. The hamburger was frozen in 4 four pound packs. The cups, plates and plastic ware was just stacked on a table for loading later. This afternoon the mares were teased. None of the Thoroughbred mares are showing but Tessa is now in and in big. She stood very well for Valiant.Tessa is Rosaleigh's 2022 filly by Evan. Later the garden was weeded and watered. When I say garden I'm talking TWO tomato plants. It didn't take very long. Amy came by for a quick visit and of course we talked about our trip to Tanzania coming up the end of August. She had a little dog with her so I gave her that stuffed dog the lady from the apartment left. That dog decided the stuffed puppy needed a good cleaning and got right to the job.
We decided to buy some round bales of alfalfa for Valiant. Each summer he loses weight during breeding season. He runs and runs trying to impress the mares. Funny Evan holds his weight well. Valiant is getting grain twice a day but he just needs more calories and alfalfa hay has more calories than grass hay. The farmer we buy the hay from for Middle Grove is going to sell us 11 round bales which will be brought here. This evening Braelyn came over. She had come to clean the apartment and I didn't realize she was working. I didn't have enough money to pay her so hit Mark up for $35.00. After dropping Braelyn off ran to the money center so I could pay Mark back. She told me she has the drying going so I'll run up and check that in a few minutes.
