First Fire

No walk this morning. Ruth had to cancel, it was cold and windy so Joan and I cancelled. Instead I made Mark a gourmet omelet for breakfast taking extra time to cut and sauté lots of vegetables to go with the eggs.  Mark needed to drive in to the shop to take care of some tax stuff. I went up to the apartment to turn up the heat, turn on the lights and take some updated pictures for the airbnb website.

I realized there were no good pictures of the bathroom with the walk in shower, the shower seat and the magnetic pull down shower head.
Since the blue chair was gone and the desk put in its place I needed new pictures of the living area.
The fridge had been replaced more than a year ago with the big stainless steel one in the pictures below and this one has the ice and water dispenser in the door.. That is a big improvement over the white fridge.

Phil and Anna also installed the big screen smart TV in the master bedroom.
The porch isn't finished but I decided to put this picture on anyway.
I only had a sweat shirt on when I took the golf cart back down to the house. It was really cold with wind gusts 40-50 mph and that wasn't the worst. While those winds were blowing it was carrying bits of snow mixed with light rain. I took the video below, you can't really see the snow except when the camera pans to the evergreen tree.

We had the heat set on 70 here in the house but with that wind it just felt cold. I decided it was time to fire up the wood burner.
I kept that burner burning all day.

The guests for the next three days are hunters staying in the foaling apartment. They arrived while Mark was up at the barn. The hunters were so surprised as the porch wasn't there when they were here a month ago.
At 4:00 pm we left to meet Rhoda and Lee to watch the movie Bonhoeffer. It wasn't quite like the book, it left a lot out but I guess if they had tried to put everything in the movie would have been too long. Still I recommend it. I always wondered about the church in Germany during that time. How could they stand by and watch the horrors of what was happening, not just to the Jews but to the mentally and physically handicapped too. I think because of my sister Nancy it brought that horror closer to home. We drove to Mings after the movie and ate dinner together. We were about the only people there but it was 7:30 pm when we arrived.
There was a dish Lee wanted to try but that container was empty. Lee asked one of the workers if they would make some for him and they not only made him a plate but brought it out to him.
Talk about service! It was raining on the way home and still windy and cold. I was glad there were plenty of hot coals left in the wood burner. I had banked it down before we left at 4:00 pm.
after adding wood and opening the vent it took back off and had the house back up to 73 degrees pretty quickly.
