First Day

We were up early as before 4:00 am another big storm came through This one dropped 2.1 inches.

I am thankful the truck has a cover and that it was parked in the barn. Mark came over to help load all the fridge and freezer foods. We filled the big white cooler then filled the smaller blue cooler. Thankful for that 8 foot bed in this truck. Diane and Ruth even helped during the walk. They handed me the foods going in the camper fridge. We pulled out at 8:15 am and stopped once at Litchfield, IL. Mark wanted lunch but it was only 10:15 am and none of the fast food restaurants were open for lunch yet. Instead he got a salad from the gas station, gave me the hard boiled egg and he ate the rest. We did not stop again, I really should have eaten some breakfast this morning.  We arrived at 1:30 pm, met the owner of the house where we are staying then went to work unloading.  Rhoda and Lee arrived next and helped with that. When the rest of the family got here Rhoda put them to work shucking the corn for the meal tonight.

We only shucked about half of what we brought and everyone had as much as they wanted at supper.
The corn was served with a stick of butter and salt. We also had hotdogs and brats, chips, salad, cottage cheese, and frozen gogurts for dessert. After supper came the games.

It was too hot for a fire so instead they jumped in the hot tub.
Try to figure that one out.

They played the human knot, then some kind of kung fu game and finally a rousing game of kick ball.
Mark and I walked over to the Jaydwin Canoe rental and rented 8 canoes for tomorrow. We need to be in the parking lot at 8:00 am tomorrow morning with our lunches packed. We are taking the 16 mile trip this year.
This family loves the big yards and our only neighbors are cows.
The bag game was taken out for the adults. They played while Zeke played in the hot tub.

The kids played outside until dark. We sat on the porch, David played the guitar and sometimes we sang and sometimes we just visited. Everyone has now gone to bed and so will I. A good first day.
