Another Canoe

After our walk we held an impromptu neighborhood meeting minus a few of us to discuss and compare water bills.

They are getting so high in our area we are seriously considering drilling a well. Mom has a good well but still signed up for city water when they first came through our area just in case. Spark didn't have a good well so tapped on to mom's city water.
We had a well here but it was not producing enough to keep our horses watered so were glad to sign up for city water. Mike and Diane have a well but that too has gone dry different times so they also signed up for city water. Joan is only on a well but her well is good. Now our bills are running around $150-$350 a month with ours at the upper end. That is enough to think about digging a deep well we could all use if there is water available. I still needed to make the bed and do a little cleaning in the barn so went to finish that.  Once that was done I drove the Prius to the Berean office to unload the Bibles and boxes. I also dropped off coffee and an apple pie for tomorrow.  Amy sent a text  telling me her neighbor was giving away a canoe and did we want it. Right away I told her yes and would come get it today so when I got home from Berean hooked the truck up to the stock trailer but when I pulled it out to clean it saw it had a flat tire.  I'm not strong enough to get those lug nuts off so just finished cleaning it out then let Amy know I would have to come tomorrow to pick it up. By this time Anna and Taunya were here with their kids all at the lake. The girls took off with the golf cart while the boys were swimming.
I showed them the  picture of the canoe and  Anna mentioned it is exactly like the red one here.
Sure enough it is the same brand and in about the same shape.  Joan is getting a new air conditioner and furnace today. Hinrichsens showed up to start installing that.
She has been without air since the storm that fried her compressor and it has been almost unbearably hot. Valiant has some sores on his legs that needed attention. I'm thinking fly bites that Valiant started scratching but they were cleaned out and sprayed with furazone to help with healing. I may have missed Madiera's second heat. I saw her on Sunday hanging around the back of Valiant's paddock but today she is not interested at all. We need to get her bred along with the two Thoroughbred mares yet before they can go out to Middle Grove. Those mares should be coming into season this week as it has been 19 days since Aichen was covered and we know Holly was in and ovulated on the 5th before we could get her covered.
