Preparing for the Hog Roast

I over slept this morning not getting up until 6:30 am. Mark agreed to eat breakfast after the walk. That gave me some time before the walk to unload the dishwasher in the barn. All the dishes were very clean, that is a wonderful dishwasher. On the walk we stopped at the cabin, Diane had a cupboard she was giving away.

Ruth looked at it but decided it wasn't what she wanted, Joan took it for the girls clubhouse. We also checked our firepit for the cabin. They are going to put in a horse shoe pit in this yard near the pit.
When we reached Rachel's house we were amazed at how quickly the new grass is growing.
After our walk Mark was made steak and eggs for breakfast. The steak was just left overs from the fajitas last night. He also had some peppers, two scrambled cheesy eggs and watermelon for his fruit. (also left over from Sunday)
I needed to drive up to the 5th wheel to finish emptying the tanks. I had emptied the gray water tank and left the hoses out. I went first to put those away and was shocked to see someone had run over them and not just once. They destroyed both of the hoses. It was our guest on Saturday that didn't leave at noon. I don't know if he just didn't see the hoses or was mad that I asked him to leave but the hoses had to go to the dumpster and a new one ordered.
It was interesting to note that the 3 walkers were in the far paddock
and the 2 Friesians were in the middle paddock.
The back gates of both are wide open so they can come and go.
After breakfast Mark went to the post office to pick up the packages waiting. Those were the chair beds. We had 4 big heavy boxes that needed to be taken upstairs then 2 medium boxes of the comforters for the full size memory foam mattresses. The comforters were put in the master bathroom closet with the pillows and sheets.
The heavy boxes were hauled upstairs by both Mark and I then the empty boxes thrown down for Mark to take to the dumpster. The chairs are nice, they each came with a pillow, they are 6 inches of memory foam and have side pockets for cell phones but also lay flat and make a twin size bed. There is an outlet between the two to the right of the couch for charging cell phones. There is another outlet to the left of the couch but farther toward the north wall.
When Taegan and Kensley arrived I had them try them out and they pronounced them 'good'.

The pacNplay was put in the master bedroom closet. Those two black bags are the tri fold full size memory foam mattresses. Two fit in each side of the closet so if we get a guest that needs more sleeping space those can be pulled out.
The last full size mattress was opened and put on the king bed for the memory foam to expand. That usually takes a day or two.
This bedroom also has a carbon monoxide monitor. Mark put one in the bedroom, one in the gym and one in the living room.
My next job was to pull the folding tables out of the garage and clean them up. They were loaded on the golf cart and taken over to the barn.
Then it was time to set up the tables and chairs for the hog roast. I spent a couple hours moving the round tables in, the 6 ft rectangle tables in one of the 8 ft rectangle tables plus an entire pallet of folding chairs.
This evening Mark helped move the other nine 8 ft tables into the gym.
We put one of the big tables next to the door we will be bringing the roasted hog in. That will be put on the table and the white table in front of that will hold the roasters for the meat as the meat cutters cut it.

The rest of the tables were set up for more eating space.
Below is a short video of some of the work that got done today.
David prepared a map for anyone that needs directions to the barn for this hog roast. The address is 4713 S Hanna City Glasford Rd Hanna City, IL and gps will take you to the drive. Once you turn on the drive just follow the red line back to the barn.

He even sent one of those fancy square code things.
We don't know how to use it but others might. We plan on eating around 5:00 pm on Saturday Sept 30th, 2023 but please come early to help cut up the hog or just enjoy the day. There is plenty to do. All are invited BUT the cost is to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to share.  We are so looking forward to hosting.
