Easter Egg Dye Party

 Another cold morning but this time instead of being in the low 30s it was already 41 degrees. After breakfast Mark helped move two bales in. Actually he did most of the work by himself. He is well trained. We first put one in the far paddock for the weanlings even though they were in the pond pasture. Evan's paddock was next.

Mark went down to the house when that was finished. I moved the weanlings into the far paddock. Valerie has lost her halter but thankfully they all just followed me where they needed to go. Mark took the skid steer with the hydraulic saw attachment and went through all the trails up on top and around the fields. It is always good to start on trails before the spring growth. Since we will be bringing the riding horses home soon we are ALL thankful for his clearing work on trails. Later he walked the lower trails to get a plan for what equipment he wants there and decided his small Kubota with the bush hog mower would be best for that.  I drove to Morton to pick up Nancy and brought her to mom's. Ruth was with mom and sent the picture below of mom and Nancy enjoying the sunshine on the deck. 

Then it was time to work on food for tomorrow. I got 40 potatoes scrubbed, pierced and wrapped in aluminum foil for tomorrow's dinner and made 5 pounds of cheesy carrots that will just need to be heated up. We were heading over to the playground at 2:30 pm for the Easter Egg dye party when I got a notice that an airbnb guest booked the 5th wheel for tonight and tomorrow night AND were on the way here. I dropped off the eggs, picked up Anna and the 2 of us had that ready for rent in about 10 minutes including filling the fresh water tank. The guests arrived about 10 minutes later. Whew that was close. The bedding had all been washed and taken up ealier but the bed had not been made and the floor still needed to be swept. When we got back to the playground the party was in full swing.

Anni is too young to want to dye eggs so she got to use the merry-go-round and the swing.

Diane and Mike made it safely home from Gulf Shores. They will be bringing Irish and Tatiana back as Tatiana is due May 1st and Irish is due May 5th. Today Lily is starting her foal heat. She will need to be bred tomorrow or Monday. Rosalie may also be coming in. The kitchen is now cleaned up and the second load of laundry put in. Phil fixed the computer today so I was able to update the Horsemeister website. It has been a busy day.  UPDATE from Carol: 

We are grateful that Wayne could come home on Monday eve. He has had a few hurdles but is gaining strength. We are enjoying watching the birds in our backyard and loving the fresh air. He is looking forward to reading and studying, playing the piano and getting back to playing his saxophone. Thank you for your prayers for his continued healing and recovery.
