Baby Raccoons

I went out early to check on Jewel and found her standing quietly, exactly as the doctor ordered.

Irish, Tatiana and her 2 day old filly had been left out all night so they were checked on next.

Before heading to the walk I had to check on Rosalie, Lily and Lily's filly.
Lily's filly went into the woods for a little privacy.

We stopped at Joan's house to see the baby raccoons Faith rescued. They will have their hands full with these 4. There are 2 girls and 2 boys.
It seems each year they have to raise some as they live in the woods and the coyotes are not afraid to take on a mother raccoon. On the way back we looked for the cane I lost yesterday. When we went by the weanling paddock all 3 of them were laying down but by the time I got the phone out to snap a picture Valerie was already up and Tessa was starting to get up.
Joan told us about their Bible reading on the 16th. The Peoria church is reading a chapter a day together, We started on the 16th and read Mathew 1. When Joan got done with the begats, Berlica was moaning about why do we have to listen to all of those. Joan was explaining how amazing it is that the Israelites could trace their lineage all the way back to Adam and Eve. Joan said, "do you know of any other people that can do that?" and without hesitation Berlica pipes in with, "AC's"! We all had to laugh.
After the walk the 5th wheel was given a good cleaning and the bedding washed. Since the machines were running all the laundry was done. Rachel needed to take Molly to the groomer for mom so I went over to visit with mom until she got back.  Rachel walked in and told us it was starting to thunder. Sure enough a storm was rolling in. Tatiana and her filly were brought inside.
I was glad to see Jewel was also inside her shelter before the storm hit.
On the way down to the house I stopped to take a picture of the blossoms on the redbud tree. They are so thick and beautiful.
When the storm was over Tatiana and her filly were put in Evan's field which he can't use right now because the fencing is down.
Tatiana doesn't know the fence is down and stayed inside the fenceline grazing until I brought her inside before getting ready for church. At 4:00 pm Jewel was brought up to the breeding stand and 30 ccs of liquid sulfa was squirted deep into her mouth. She stood well for that. She was also give the shot of gentamicin. She needs the sulfa each day but her next shot of antibiotic will be done on Friday and that will be Exceed. I can't pick it up until Friday as it is a thick liquid. She will also need another bottle of sulfa so will pick that up at the same time.
As those baby raccoons need feeding every three hours the girls brought them to church. After church was over all the kids and some adults wanted to feed and hold the babies.
It is WAY past my bedtime because after church we went to Culvers for a late supper and enjoyed visiting with the big group there.
