We got a notice from Kay and it MUST be shared here: Reign (formerly Skye) delivered the first Horsemeister foal of 2023, a healthy colt at 10:17pm last night at 331 days. We did have to assist as he was coming out upside down but our assist made it all go smooth! Her second foal from Evan. It appears he has an angel’s kiss from our beloved Leo (her first foal) as this little guy has a tiny star that we never expected to see. He looks VERY much like he took on Evan’s mega hair and build! My heart is full again, may I present to you “Phoenix”

The FIRST Foal
Congratulations and we are so happy for both of them. Always thankful for a safe delivery and a healthy colt. Both Diane and I over slept this morning so we didn't have a long walk. I quit when we reached our house. I woke up at 7:08 am and needed to be at the meeting place at 7:15 am so didn't even gulp down a cup of coffee. Once back at the house the coffee was enjoyed as was our egg and sausage breakfast. A cold hard rain moved in right after that. The weanlings needed a round bale as did Evan but it was so nasty outside we decided to wait. At 10:00 am the rain slowed down to a trickle. Mark came out with me and moved a bale in for the weanlings but as we were finishing up with them the rain started again coming down hard.
These bales are wonderful, fine stemmed and still very green. I've been saving them for just Valiant and the weanlings and we have 9 left so should make it through easy.
Mark went back to the house and I went inside the apartment to get that ready for the guests coming in this evening. The floors were swept and the heat turned up. One other time today the rain slowed so we hiked back up to the barn and this time moved a bale in for Evan. Evan gets a first cutting bale from last year they are not quite as green but we put those up early so they are also fine stemmed. We have over 30 left of them. By the time we finished with that bale it was pouring again. I sent a message to the guests coming in that they could use the indoor arena for their dogs as everything here was going to be very muddy. They arrived around 6:00 pm in the rain of course but were so glad to let the dogs out to run. They had been at the show grounds all day and the dogs were anxious to get out and gallop. After running around and around they stopped to check out all the good smells in a horse barn so I could finally get a couple pictures.
Cindy the owner has been breeding and showing these Great Danes for about 9 years now. She was pretty thrilled to be able to let the dogs run and not get muddy. There is one more owner and one more dog coming in tonight that are still at the fair grounds. The last class of the day is late so she probably wont make it until close to 11:00 pm. I was supposed to have Iris and Zeke tonight but Rhoda called to cancel, poor Iris wasn't feeling well.
