Another cold morning of just 6 degrees. We took a shortcut through the barn and now that it is insulated, even though there is no heat in the bar, the temperature inside was 44 degrees. It felt warm. The sun was just coming up while we were walking over the retention dam to Joan's house.
Joan came out with a brand new coat her children gave her for her birthday. In our family we rarely buy new so if one has something new with tags it is tradition to leave the tags on the first time it is worn. 
After the walk the chili was started for the meal tonight. Maria Graham thought it was be a lot of fun to have a chili cook-off so 10 of us ladies each made a crock pot of chili. More on that later. The chili was put on simmer at 11:45 am so I could take a quart over to mom's and relieve Joan. Her kids have play practice on Wednesday so she needs to leave by noon. After Joan and the kids left and lunch was finished mom was settled on her recliner. Sometimes Molly will jump up on mom's lap for a nap but today she jumped up on the wheel chair to make herself comfortable. 
Joan really needed a new coat so this was a welcome gift.
Karin arrived around 2:00 pm and by this time it was 26 degrees and the sun was shining. I drove straight to the barn to bring the weanlings inside. The gate wheel was frozen so solid I could not open the gate so had to lead they out the shelter gate around the paddock and into the barn. Valerie was led and the other two just followed. Indy's colt decided not to go inside the barn at first. 
But didn't like being out by himself so finally got up the nerve to step through the doorway into the barn. He went right into the stall with Tessa. Once he was inside that stall Tessa was taken out to her own stall. All 3 were tied. Indy's colt needed a new halter as he was outgrowing the other one. I was pleased that was able to be done without a fight. While they were all tied they were dewormed with an entire tube of Quest Plus. Tessa was given hers first.
Valerie was done next.
Indy's colt was done last.
I was pleased with all 3. Valerie was led back first and once she was back in the paddock Tessa was brought out and Indy's colt just left loose to follow. Both Valerie and Tessa are leading well. Indy's colt will still need work. Mark got home about the time I made it back to the house. We cleaned up for church, the chili was loaded into the car and we left around 5:00 pm. Mark wanted to drop his car off at Zane's on our way to church to get the brakes checked out. Family night starts at 6:00 pm but we needed to be there a little early to get the chili there in time. Family night was well attended and a lot of fun. Joan's chili won the award as the best chili. I had left my phone at home so borrowed Mark's phone for the short video below.
Joe Gerber was the visiting minister and his talk was on Christian exclusivism.
