Decisions

Just Diane and I walked this morning. This is Ruth's last week of work and Joan took her kids garage saleing. Right after the walk Diane and I went into mom's to get her ready for our big morning at the Berean office. She was already dressed and eating breakfast. We left her house at 8:20 am and made it to the Berean office just before 9:00 am. There was a lot of work waiting. If you would like to read about our morning there click HERE. Kathy took the picture below.
The video below is posted on that blog but I have to post it here. We were all so glad mom was able to come back and help.
We worked there until 11:30 am then enjoyed a very tasty delicious rhubarb dessert made by Gail and brought in by Marvin. Mark arrived in time to enjoy the dessert then once I had finished up the certificates helped get mom back in the car for our trip home.  We stopped at the Hanna City post office to drop off the 84 Bibles going out today then to mom's house for lunch.  Mom was more than ready for a nap after lunch. Diane relieved me at 5:10 pm. I headed right over to the cabin field to check on Sheena and her colt. They are doing great with the small herd there. Mike was able to post a video of Sheena's new colt right after the birth on his sign outside his office.  I'll need to drive to Hanna City tomorrow and get a picture and video of that.  I made chicken, stuffing, asparagus and salad for supper tonight then headed out to move a bale into the paddock next to Valiant's.  I moved Madiera and her filly into that paddock in hopes she will start to show.  I can't believe I missed her foal heat. She has been teased everyday since I brought her home on Saturday. The filly was 10 days old and usually a mare will come into her foal heat in a week and stay in for 5 or 6 days. Either she came in early and the heat was short or she just wont show with her filly by her side but we have never had that problem in the past.  The people buying her filly really want her back as soon as she is bred and out. The milk bucket for Soul's colt was brought inside to wash but the next bucket going out won't happen until 8:00 pm.  I'll need to pick up Oksana soon from Middle Grove but right now don't have the room for her unless I haul Jury back out.
Jury has been the trickster. She was covered and confirmed in foal due May 11th but then last fall came back in season. We brought her home and got her covered again in September which would make her due August 21st. This spring she was looking much to heavy in foal to be due in August so thought that she must not have lost the pregnancy and would be due May 11th except her udder never filled. She is still here and still looking like she is ready to deliver. The picture below was taken May 11th. Perhaps she is just fat.
Except we can see the foal moving in there.
I've never had a mare go more than 10 days late. Do we take her back out or keep feeding her here? There is so much grass at Middle Grove the horses can't keep up with the growth and we only have 8 horses there now but have 18 here and must give them hay and grain. Decisions decisions.
