Monday the 11th

We awoke to a thunderstorm this morning. Flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder but thankfully not a lot of rain. Right after taking care of my horses, the barn cat, Joan's dog and cats I headed right over to mom's. She was up so once dressed breakfast of farm fresh eggs, thinly sliced perfectly cooked bacon and amazing seeded toast with raspberry jam and fresh squeezed orange juice was served with Karin's nice strong coffee. Karin left right after breakfast so mom and I settled down with the Daily Bread and some cards to read.  Aunt Jinnie called and we had a nice long chat. Lunch was left overs from Saturday but all was good. After lunchMom had just settled down for a nap and was sleeping for 10 minutes pretty soundly when Karin arrived home. I whispered asking her if she could stay with mom while I ran to the barn to cover a couple mares, mom heard me whisper and woke right up. She was glad to visit with Karin.  Skye and Irish were both covered this afternoon then I ran right back to mom's. Mom and Karin were on the deck, mom was in her scooter practicing driving up and down the deck AND doing well.

It was beautiful outside sunny and 65 degrees. The birds were singing and the geese were honking. The only problem with letting mom drive on the deck was she saw all the outside work of weeding and wanted to get down to start working on it. She certainly isn't used to just sitting around. We convinced her to wait until Joan and the kids get home from Gulf Shores. She can drive around on her scooter telling them what to pull and what to leave. Once mom was back in her recliner ready to rest I headed home. By this time it was after 4:00 pm. Rachel is coming with dinner and staying this evening. I am so thankful for sisters. Speaking of Rachel, she took the picture below on this date, April 11th, in 2013 of Bunni in the cabin field after the snow storm.

Ok I guess we need to stop complaining of the weather, at least we aren't plowing and shoveling snow.
