Cold Rain

It wasn't too bad outside this morning, sprinkling but not pouring and not terribly cold at 54 degrees. That gave me an opportunity to tease and cover without getting dumped on. Skye was covered by Evan and Irish by Valiant. Irish and her colt were then put in the indoor arena. There was a pair of loony geese  landing on the barn roof, three more geese trying to land and scrambling. Irish was sure the barn was falling in. I took a few pictures of them flying, then landing and the 3 that ended up on the ground as the pair held their stand.

Silly geese squabbling over a barn roof! The pair finally flew off.
I left for Sam's club to pick up the food for our Easter meal. When I got back the rain had stopped and the daffodils were all looking bright and fresh.
There was no one working on the barn so I hiked over to see what got done this morning and was very impressed. The brown parking lot is not mud. It is a gravel/concrete mix that is holding up very well.
That was the fill put in before the concrete can be poured. The fill was packed in, the plastic put down and the rebar added. Everything is now in place for the big pour tomorrow.

The cement is planned for tomorrow barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Below is looking North toward the house and Evan's paddock.
When I hiked back our airbnb guests were out enjoying the horses and asked if they could feed them an apple.  Evan saw them coming and was glad for that treat.
He took it very gently from the little girl.
Next we walked up to Dancer and Rocky.  They were intrigued by the apple. Dancer took it into her mouth, held it a few moments then dropped it on the ground.

I was due at mom's by 1:00 pm so had to leave. Mom felt chilly this afternoon so after a late lunch wanted to sit in the hot tub to warm up. Karin helped with that.  Mom was very relaxed after that and fell sound asleep. Ruth came this evening.  When I got home Mark and I took Joan's new dehumidifier over to her place. We hauled it down stairs then Mark took me home while he installed it.
By the time we took it over it was 42 degrees with a cold rain coming down. We've had so much rain today.
