The Trip

 I left the house at 7:00 am to start getting ready for the trip up by Chicago. The truck was started then while that was warming up took the golf cart over, slipped into mom's house and borrowed her tools. When I got back to the house to pick up a couple of blankets Ruth and Steven were just pulling up. We decided to take the horse trailer as the truck was full of snow. A couple buckets of hot water melted enough of the snow off the windshield wipers so those would work on our trip. We pulled out at 7:35 am. One stop for gas about midway there. The bed was exactly as described. It was only 3 months old and all the paper work came with it.  Ruth and Steven went right to work taking it apart while I put down blankets on the floor of the horse trailer. We were pretty thrilled it came apart and can be assembled without any tools. Once it was loaded we headed home but stopped after a few minutes because we didn't remember if we had packed the controller to go with the bed.  As soon as we opened the trailer we saw it and were back on the road.  We stopped for lunch in Chillicothe grabbed some sandwiches and took off again and by this time the sky was spitting some freezing rain. That stopped the closer we came to home so when we pulled in at the barn were able to take the bed out of the trailer, load it onto the back of the truck, park the trailer then drive the truck to mom's to unload. The driveway was much to icy to take the horse trailer. Rachel and David were there putting a bar across a door in the bathroom for mom to grab and Karin was there to help with mom so when Ruth ran in to tell them the bed was here She, Karin and Rachel took the other bed apart and moved that into the living room while Steven and I started unloaded the new bed. There were a couple of ice skaters out on the lake with umbrellas sailing along on the ice.

One of them was Rhonda, not sure who the other was. Within minutes the bed was put together and of course we had to try it out.  Mom wanted to try it out too.  As soon as mom was in the bed Molly jumped up to figure out why mom was going to bed in the daytime.

Of course we all laughed including mom. Below Molly was getting comfortable. She sleeps at the bottom of the bed and even though it was still daylight figured she had better claim her spot quickly before someone else did.

After that was done I was going to head home but just then the UPS truck came with the driver backing all the way to mom's house. We didn't think anything of it until I went outside to leave.  He had unloaded 12 big heavy boxes and stacked them behind the golf cart.

They were all for Spark. You can't even see the golf cart from behind.

Spark was given a call and he came over with a van. Brett came over to help load them. Once they were all moved I came home to make supper for Mark. Matt and Anni took 2 of Rebekah's kids, Jordan and Riley while Sarah took Zion snow boarding at SnowStar today. All of the kids did very well. Sarah posted a few pictures. The all had so much fun. It wasn't too cold today and the snow was great.

Lunch break is also important when burning lots of calories out on the slopes.

Don't forget if you enjoy skating or just want to play on the frozen lake head to Joan's tomorrow after church. All are welcome. I'm pretty sure along with the hot chocolate she will also have a nice warm fire going. There is plenty of room for everyone.  The winter sports are a fun way to keep the winter blues away.
