Retirement For Mike

I'm so thankful for this day of rest. Although the horses still needed to be fed. Mark held the gate open at the cabin field so I could put in a new bale for the horses there. When I came back inside the 6 pounds of hamburger was browned then the kitchen cleaned up for the haystack dinner tonight. Mom did not need me to brush her hair again, it was even good enough for church.  This morning was Mike Rieker's farewell sermon as he is officially retiring from the Peoria ministry. He spoke on John 20, the Easter story and the many miracles.  At lunch they served cupcakes as a special farewell. Aunt Bernie got to come to church today. The home bus still isn't running but Skylines is no longer on lockdown. It was SO good to see so many people we hadn't seen for over a  year. This afternoon Mike Kaisner had the end times study on Rev 15, 16, 17 and 18. I kind of felt cheated that the time was too short to cover it all. Diane and Mike picked up Nancy for church then took mom and Nancy home. As soon as I got home I got two pans of brownies in the oven then went out to meet the man bringing his mare in for breeding to Valiant. The mare was just starting to show. She was supposed to be in and ready to cover on Wednesday but we will cover her early tomorrow morning before the heat just in case she will ovulate early. She was put in the paddock next to Valiant and a bale moved in for her. The brownies were done by the time I got back inside.  We had a good group for dinner and a beautiful afternoon and evening. The kids spent most of the time swimming while the adults played volleyball or went for walks. I took NO pictures today but will post the one below of Rosaleigh taken earlier.

She has the most beautiful foals. Her udder was very swollen tonight with both teats pointing straight down. No waxing and she really isn't due until July 4th yet but I'm concerned enough that she was put in a stall and on the monitor for the night.
