Sheena's New Filly

Mark and I picked up mom, Joan and Hannah for church this morning around 9:00 am. We had signed up for the 10:00 am service and wanted to get there in plenty of time. Mike Kaisner had that message. Then we found out later that the afternoon service had extra room so next week we are going to try to sign up for both. Mom suggested that everyone brings a lunch and we could eat together almost like usual but Hannah told her we were not yet at that level and food would not be allowed. Today we ordered as soon as we got in the car food from Avanti's then picked it up on our way home. Most of them ate together at the playground but I had a lot of work still to do for my evening meal. I turned on the church service at Facebook live and got to listen to Craig Stickling. I went out just before 2:00 pm to move Rosaleigh and her colt into the barn and drove right past Sheena who had a foal laying down in the shelter next to her. It didn't click in my mind that Sheena wasn't due yet and shouldn't HAVE a foal by her side. She sure didn't have one by her side this morning before we left for church. This filly is so big she looks like she is a week old, not a few hours old. Last night when I checked Sheena's udder it was a little bigger but not full and not waxing and last year Sheena went 10 days late.  They were brought inside a stall.  The pictures below were taken just after 2:00 pm. IF Sheena had her right after 9:00 am it would make her 5 hours old.

She is nursing well and so strong. Once they were settled in the stall the paddock was searched for the placenta. That looked normal and whole and was cleaned up and buried in the manure pile. We now have only just Tatiana left to foal for 2020 and she is due July 13th.
Karin took a group out on the trails at 3:00 pm with her chain saw to more clearing.

The Texas Sceggels arrived right after they left so they were loaded up on the golf cart and down the trails we went to find them. Of course we had to stop at the creek. The golf cart doesn't cross creeks as well has the horses.

Jace was feeling a little carsick for the long ride here.
Zion came with us on the trails. Below they are waiting for the horses to come across the creek.
All loaded up waiting for the horses.
Below is a short video of the horses crossing the creek then galloping up the dam hill.
The riders were sure having fun. Below is Taegan on Cookie.
Magda riding Ayanna and Israel riding Missy.

They needed to be back in time for the 4:00 pm scheduled ride. Joan was hosting a family from Indiana and the mom just happened to be Stephanie's aunt.
Karin took some of their family out on the trails.
Below is Ellie Christensen riding Ayanna, Above the other three belong to Char Moser.

Karin said the girls had a good time. The horses were perfect. After the ride Ayanna was taken over and covered by Evan. All of my children and grandchildren were down on mom's beach. The cousins were so glad to see their cousins from Texas.
Well all but Nolan. He had dropped his very expensive rod and reel in the lake and spent hours trying to find it.

They all came over here and had haystacks for supper. Taunya's dad and her brother Luke came too. We had a houseful.  The girls did all the clean up then everyone left for the playground for volley ball.
Ruth's children and grand children were also there. Spark and Rhonda came over with just a few of their grandchildren.

Lee gave golf cart rides to the little ones while the big ones swam and the bigger ones played volleyball.

Iris was having fun on the sliding board.
When she finished playing she walked over to grandpa Mark and not just sat on his lap, she sat on his lap and snuggled in for a rest.
Stephanie sent me the picture above. I had the rest of the grandchildren and they were helping with the feeding of all the horses. Thankfully I had plenty of scoops and they all got to carry a scoop and dump it in a bucket. What a wonderful day! Thankful for another safe delivery and a healthy foal.
