MayDay Activities

Ruth, Fedi, Mark and I had another good walk. Ruth and I are pretty thrilled the men are coming with us. We get all kinds of ideas when walking with them. This morning Karin came to work with horses and started with Hadassah. No pictures, I needed to make another run delivering Bible studies to willing graders. There are now only 30 left to grade from the last 2 weeks. I'm so thankful people are willing to help with grading. The prisoners anxiously wait for their graded studies to be returned. When I got back Karin was at the cabin with Chad and Julie's girls getting ready for a trail ride. Julie let their son Boone ride over to the playground with Livie on Missy.  Emma rode Cookie and Mercy rode double with Karin on Sally.

Steven was working on clearing brush and logs out of the creek.

 I stood at the top of one of the trails and took the pictures above and below. Rizzy went down to check out Steven's work. This trail is very steep but the horses have no problem carrying riders up it even when it is muddy.

The last canter up the hill at the very top Cookie kicked out with both hind legs.

Obviously Missy wasn't staying 6 feet behind and with this social distancing Cookie was irritated. She let Missy know it is 6 feet OR 2 feet!  When the ride was finished Julie brought them over to see Irish's 2 day old filly. Below is Emma giving her a hug.

 Below is a picture of her mane. It is so thick and curly for a 2 day old foal.

 Boone wanted to pet her also.

 The girls went out to pick grass and feed the other mares and foals. 

 Beth sent the pictures below of fishing on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone is SO thrilled the beaches are now open and everyone was being careful with social distancing.  The fishing was great, Beth reported they were catching a lot of fish. Below mom was pulling in this Pompano but the fish was too big and too strong. Joan had to pull it in for her.  They make great eating. 

 The Whiting were also biting. 

Tonight Mark and I got the bush hog mower on the big Kubota. Tomorrow is suppose to be nice and he wants to get the pastures mowed to help with weed control. 

One sad thing to report is the governor of Illinois extended the stay at home order for another month AND made it illegal to go out in public without a face mask for anyone 2 years old and older starting today May 1st, 2020. We are so isolated from all the terrible stuff going on in cities it is hard to believe this Corona Covid 19 is as bad as predicted. When this first came out the government said it is projected that United States will have over 2,000,000 deaths by now but that just didn't happen and now they are saying the virus has been here much longer than they thought so those projections are off and the death rate is NOT the 3 to 5%  but much much lower and yet still we are suppose to stay locked up and not work. Is it pride? Do they not want to admit they made a mistake? Could it be about money or power? 

I'm thankful our God IS in control and actually very thankful the government was wrong about the death rates. I do not know anyone who has died from this virus but feel deeply sympathetic to those families who have lost loved ones. I miss my church family but thankful for technology that we can still see and hear our ministers on Sunday's and Wednesday's.
