Maybe Tonight

We had a good walk this morning. The sun was shining and the weather cool.  After the walk Galena and her filly were de-wormed, Galena with Quest Plus and her filly with Ivermectin.  Rosaleigh and Galena along with their fillies were let out to graze in the hay field. There is just no way to cut the hay as rain is predicted tomorrow, at least the horses can graze.

Roxanne and Star were watching them from the other field.

Lily was also watching, just hoping she could go out too.

Karin arrived as I was working on the apartment. She is working with Magda and today they took Evan out so Magda could learn a little on round pen reasoning. Of course Evan had to show off.

Julie showed up with Livy and Emma who were here for a trail ride. Magda got to go too. She rode Sangria, Emma rode Cookie, Livy rode Missy and Karin rode Sally.

 When Julie came back to pick up the girls, she, Mercy and Boone were petting Rosaleigh's foals, when they walked away the filly tried to follow and tried to jump through and got stuck.  Poor Julie didn't know what to do, she called Karin and asked, "what do you call a baby horse?" When Karin told her she said, "one of the foals is stuck." Karin called me and I went right up and of course had to take a picture first before helping her out of her predicament.  Julie was apologizing worrying that she may have caused the problem and of course I laughed. No one can predict what a foal will do when one stops petting them!

 As soon as the board was put back up Karin and I took the truck and two horse trailer to the Menards in Galesburg to pick up her new shower and door. Karin is remodeling her bathroom at her house in Maquan.

Once everything was loaded we drove to her house, unloaded the trailer then drove to Middle Grove going up the back way.  The horses heard us coming and all started following us all the way down to the round pen.

All the horses followed Karin into the round pen, I shut the gate then each horse was haltered and sprayed down with a spray that is suppose to kill and prevent ticks and flies from biting.  As soon as the horse was sprayed down they were taken out of the round pen and let loose.  Instead of leaving they pretty much hung around watching as Karin worked with the next horse.

Ripper was quite funny, when he was taken out, he tried to get back in by trying to remove the pins out of the hinges.

 When that didn't work, he grabbed the rope and started pulling.

 Ivan was very good for Karin, we didn't bring a small halter but he stood quietly while she sprayed him down. 

 Karin was impressed with Roxanne's filly Giselle.  She is not only beautiful she is sweet. 

 Madiera's filly was also good. Karin led her out and took her halter off  and just had to pet her before going back in to do the last horse.

 We saved Hadassah for last as she was the mare coming back with us. Hadassah needs to be bred to Evan and this should have been done in May but we had no paddock space available until now.

Hadassah was loaded and we were heading home all before 3:00 pm. We were thrilled with how well the round pen worked. This way we know every horse got sprayed and we didn't accidentally skip any. The foals were handled and the weanlings too. As soon as we got home Tori was taken out and covered by Evan.  Hadassah and Tori are sharing a paddock.  Star was checked and she is waxing. A storm is moving in so the stalls were prepared, a bale flipped for easy access to pull hay off for the stalls, more bedding moved in then Star and Roxanne brought in for the night. I'm watching her on the monitor tonight and will be surprised if she doesn't deliver by morning.  Tonight the Young at Heart group was meeting at Gil's Supper Club for dinner. After dinner Diane invited them all to her house for dessert.

We all enjoyed visiting with each other.
