2019 Indian Camp Day 1

We had a beautiful morning for the first day of our 2019 Indian Camp. It didn't rain last night or this morning and the sun was shining. Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley were the first to arrive.
The Indians arrived at 9:30 am they lined up for the instructions.
Their first job was to build their shelters for the next 3 days.

I had to leave as these were being built to go down to Meisters and pay the first of the month bills.  While I was gone they worked on their Indian outfits and cut branches for spears.
After lunch it was time to cool off and swim.
While the Indians were swimming I took Rosaleigh and her filly to Hoerr Vet clinic. The filly started coughing on Thursday. She didn't have a fever and had no discharge but I wanted her checked out.  Dr. Hoerr ran some blood work on her then sonagrammed her lungs. They didn't look bad but the bloodwork came out that she had a higher than normal white blood cells. Not terrible but showing the start of an infection.  She was treated with antibiotics and sent home. Dr. Hoerr does not think it is much to worry about.
When I got back to camp the Indian's were heading out with their spears and war paint on an expedition to find good straight green sticks for fishing poles.
Once they all had a spear and fishing pole they were taken back to the camp for supper. Below they are getting ready to cross the bridge to get their fishing poles.
Of course they had to stop on the fallen log going over to Indian point for a picture.
Diane found the snake skin and brought it over to help decorate Indian Point.
The fishing poles worked well, pretty much everyone caught fish. Below are just a few pictures.

A video was made of some of their activities today.
After fishing they built a campfire and Joan told stories of the Indians of the South West.
They had a very good first day.
