Repairs

It was cold and snowing on our walk but soon the temperature rose all the way to 34 degrees.  I made my usual Monday trip to Sam's Club then to Meisters to pay the first of the month bills and finally to TEMCO to pick up the Berean mail for tomorrow.
Mike was here working on drilling holes to replace the posts that Valiant had broken yesterday. More work needs to be done but the posts are setting up now.  Of course the weather wasn't co-operating, cold and spitting snow but with all the rain and warm temps on Saturday the frost was out of the ground making the hold digging possible. Valiant IS worth his mess though. He really is a beautiful example of a Friesian stallion with his height, amazing long well set on neck, rounded muscled rump and of course his HAIR.Although the picture below doesn't do his hair justice it sure shows his shiny black coat. This picture was taken during the summer.
Valiant is considered sport and Evan is considered baroque but Evan has more hair than Valiant.
A very nice 5 star review came in from the people that stayed at the apartment.  This was what was written: “Judy was great on communication. She had fresh homemade cookies waiting on us on the table. The apartment was clean and roomy. I stayed there with 2 of my girl friends and she made sure the futon and extra bed were set up an ready for us! We will surely be back!”
“The stay was wonderful! The cookies were so thoughtful and amazing!”
That was a nice review considering they got stuck in the middle of the storm and had to wait it out in Morton.
Bill Schick sent a a wonderful text: Is it ok if Joan (his wife) returns the crock pot full of potato soup tomorrow for the Berean lunch?
Well as Joan's potato soup just happens to be MY favorite I grudgingly agreed. NOT REALLY, I was thrilled and let him know that.  Dan stopped by this afternoon with Diesel. Poor Diesel had to go around all day today visiting nursing homes dressed as a reindeer.

Emma is always glad to see Dan but Diesel is not always happy to see his owner petting another dog.  He kept his eye on Emma just in case she would do something wrong. At one point Diesel started talking (kind of howling) to Dan letting him know he was not happy.
Mark just went up to the barn to put his car away for the night and move the power washer back in the apartment. It is already below freezing and that thing needs to be kept above freezing. Each year we put it in the basement getting it down those stairs isn't easy and getting back up the stairs is even harder.  We are just buying time moving it by putting it in the apartment for the night.  I've had the wood burner burning brightly all afternoon and all evening. I'm thankful for the heat it puts out and Mark is thankful for all the propane it saves. We really can live here very economically by using the solar panels for electricity and the wood burner for heat.
