Last Day

We started our morning with mom's last walk before she and Karin leave for China. Joan wasn't going to join us as today was the last day of Indian camp and she was still in her costume. We talked her into at least being in the picture.
The last day of Indian camp was jam packed with activities. It started with breakfast, the campers made their own and ate every bit of it. After breakfast came a hunting hike. They brought their bows and arrows and Joan gave them permission to shoot if they saw a deer and guess what? They DID! That is they saw a big fat doe but she took off before anyone could shoot. The older group took hiked the 'death trails' while the younger group went on a easier trails. We heard the war drums of a near-by tribe but never saw any other warriors except our warriors. The younger group found a big red eared slider and brought it back to the camp. This turtle had obviously been laying eggs. She wasn't very tame, Taegan got her fingers too close and the turtle bit her. There was blood but no tears, these Indians are tough! For lunch Joan cooked the frog legs, the fish, the lambs quarter and the corn on the cob while the kids all had to roast slabs of deer meat. Lunch was delicious. After lunch the packing was done then swimming. No pictures can be posted today because I haven't had time to even look at them. The farmer got the hay baled and right after supper Mark and I started moving bales. We were not going to get them all in by dark but Mike arrived with his big tractor and with the 3 of us working on moving and stacking hay we got it done by 9:30 pm. I was driving the skid steer without the glass in the door to help with vision except that meant I was covered with hay be the time everything was done. It took a LONG shower to get the hay out of my hair. We ended up with 55 big round bales. The bales are around 1500 pounds each and the grass, clover and alfalfa is still fine stemmed and full of leaves. I feel RICH having such a big first cutting and getting it up early. Rain is predicted tomorrow so we got it up just in time.
