And So it Begins

On our walk today Joan showed us the maple tree she and her kids tapped. The tree was running sap until today, then the cold and snow hit and it stopped but as soon as it warms up it will start running again.
We were swamped at Berean today and only got done today's work, leaving lots of work for tomorrow. The pictures from working there today will be downloaded tomorrow, I'm still too tired.  Right after I got home, Dan came over for a bit then I went out to work on moving the hog panel out of the weanling paddock. We wrap our round bales in the hog panel and that keeps the horses from wasting too much hay. When Mark got home we moved first one bale in for Sangria, Oksana and their two fillies then one in the weanling paddock. Before heading back to the house the udders were checked and Rosalie had a little waxing. She isn't due for 30 days but last time she delivered she foaled exactly 30 days early.  I can't take a chance on her foaling outside, it is much too muddy and tonight was snowing. Since we don't like to just bring one mare inside Anna was also brought in and the 2 mares both seem to be happy to be in out of the mud.  And so the the foaling season begins. The stalls were bedded with the last of the pellets which means a trip to TSC tomorrow or Thursday to pick up another pallet load.  This evening Ruth, Diane and I went to mom's house for games. We had a good visit while playing.  When we got outside at 8:30 pm the snow was coming down thick. I drove straight to the barn, cleaned up any manure piles the 2 mares left, filled their water buckets and now am home ready for bed. I still need to look at the pictures Rachel took on Sunday at the fair but will put that off until tomorrow too.
