Amy Koch, Cathie Trent, her mom Ann and Joan came for lunch today. The end of April I am officially retiring from Bridlewood and Joan will be taking over that duty so today was a good day to get that worked out while visiting and enjoying lunch.
Emily stopped in during lunch for a short visit.
She was borrowing the truck and trailer to haul a cow.
Karin arrived after she got off work. Today she worked with Ayanna, Galena, Rosalie, Anna and Evan. I walked in as she was finishing up with Galena.
Rosalie was next
Karin has a big smile when working with this 4 year old mare. She can't believe how balanced and how well trained she is at this young age. Of course we give Rhoda all the credit. Both Oksana and Rosalie were started by Rhoda and both were pretty much beginner safe by the time they were 4 years old.
Karin asked for the megaphone and practiced talking through it while riding Rosalie. Below she is talking to Ruby while on Rosalie. Ruby was trying hard to figure out what Karin was doing making all that noise.
Anna was the last mare worked but she was worked very lightly. Last year Anna was afraid of the megaphone so today I walked around her talking into it then used the siren. She stood still instead of panicking. Karin took the megaphone and talked through it without Anna reacting so we were well pleased.
Evan was the last horse out. He is so calm it is hard to believe he is a stallion. He is walking quietly on a loose lead rope.
Zalena, Jenis and Indy were admiring him, either that or wishing Karin would take them out too.
Evan has amazing conformation, check out that neck and he isn't even trying to show off in the picture below. He is just jog trotting around the arena.
Today Karin did not make him work hard at all. She just asked him to bow, lay down, roll, stay down and sit.

I put the truck back in the barn and was taking the golf cart back to the house when I ran into Joan, Mackenson, Faith and Berlica who were out on a hike. Joan had taken them down to the creek to see how the water flows under the ice then identified trees and finally tapped a maple tree to see if the sap had started running yet. Since it was supper time they stopped in, had the lunch left overs and some hot chocolate to warm up before heading home in the dark.
Mark had a late estimate and didn't get home for supper until Joan and her children were leaving. We will have a quiet evening at home tonight. Thankful for friends and family to share meals with. Did I ever mention how much I love living here? Truly we are blessed.
