Serenity & Laurie

We had another good Sunday. Gregg Rumbold had the morning service. He mentioned some of us are so optimistic that we see a barn full of manure and are sure there is a pony in there somewhere. Willis had the afternoon service...need I say more?
We had to hurry home, Laurie was coming to try out Serenity this afternoon and the outdoor arena needed some work. This morning I dug a trench in the corner to help it drain then as soon as we got home Mark raked the arena while I washed the mud off Jurista and Serenity. That was a total waste of time as soon as they were turned out they both rolled. This afternoon didn't go the best. Rhoda wasn't here and she is the trainer that knows the most about Serenity. After watching Laurie ride her it again brought to light the talent Rhoda has. She can feel when a horse is thinking of misbahving and knows not just how to stop it but change the bad behavior into good.  Somehow Rhoda knows exactly what to do to get a perfectly behaved horse.
In the picture below was the first inkling I had the afternoon wasn't going to go well.
It looks like a nice picture but Serenity right then was thinking of bucking. Thankfully Laurie stopped her before she was able to by us yelling "WHOA!" Laurie was able to get some very nice trot.

Once the company left it was after 6:00 pm and we still hadn't had dinner. Mark grilled lamb chops while I threw together some sides. We were late for volley ball. The games were going strong while mom was over building a fire. It is getting dark so early the lights were turned on by the time we arrived.

When Jake bent down the back row noticed he had a slight rip.
As his team mates in the back row were mentioning to him about repairing his pants the other team served to ball catching everyone off guard. There should be a rule about ripped pants and a do-over.

Mackenson was helping mom with sticks for the fire.
Everyone migrated over later, the fire felt great on this cool evening.
Later a bunch went to Rachel and David's house to play games. It was a long evening and now we all smell like campfire smoke.
