Much Needed Vacation

Today starts our annual Sceggel family vacation and this year we are again blessed to be able to stay at Diamond Lake, Michigan in Ken and Darlene Hoerr's amazing lake house.
We planned on leaving at noon but just didn't get the chores done by then. This time it wasn't Mark's fault we left an hour and a half later, I just didn't start work soon enough and couldn't get done until 1:00 pm.
Emily took the truck and trailer to Big R's where grain was on sale for under $6.00 a 50 pound bag. She bought over the limit. Marika was covered by Valiant and Jewely-Et was covered by Evan today.
We left for Michigan at 1:30 pm and were flying right along until just before Chicago then came to a dead stop. It took an hour to go about 15 miles but once we passed the accident that caused the traffic  jam it was smooth sailing. We decided to stop for fried chicken for an easy dinner and wanted to pick up enough for the group. Around South Bend, Indiana we used the phone GPS to help find a Kentucky Fried Chicken with no success at all. We ended up on the wrong side of the tracks at a Popeye's Chicken. By this time it was after 7:00 pm and Mark was more than ready for a rest room but when we walked in there wasn't one in sight. We asked the lady at the desk and neither of us could understand what she said. Mark was sure there would be one and asked again and again we couldn't understand the answer. I think we must have somehow been in a different country. He went out to see if there was one on the outside of the building but no luck. Mean while I was trying to order the chicken but the lady taking the order spoke the same language as the first lady and I couldn't understand what she was asking, I think she was saying spicy or mild but that wasn't what it sounded like at all. I finally just told her what I wanted, she seemed to understand. Mark decided to drive down to McDonalds while I waited for the chicken.the place started filling up and 5 beautiful girls walked in all wearing very skimpy clothing. Their hair was down past their waists in braids of all colors. I was staring in wonder when I realized they were staring back at me and it was not wonder in their eyes. By this time the chicken arrived and I decided it would be better to wait outside for Mark to return which only took a few minutes. We got back on the highway eating the hot delicious fried chicken when Phil and Anna flew by us. They beat us to the lake house by just a few minutes. Ben and Taunya pulled up about a half hour later. Rhoda and Lee will be here in 10 minutes, Sarah and Nolan are going to arrive around 11:00 pm and David & Stephanie won't be here until Sunday night. The cars are unloaded, the kids are fed and already ran down to the lake and caught a fish. The poor moms are trying to get them bathed and ready for bed and the excited children are fighting all the way.
