Vet Visit

Fede joined our walk today. He leaves for Romania in just a few hours. He wasn't the only male walker, Mike joined in for a bit that is until we reached the dumpster. I think he wanted to see our reaction to the picture below. He was going to bring his old grill over to pitch and accidentally ran over it. We think he did it on purpose. It was smashed so flat it could easily fit in the dumpster that way. Fede helped throw the pieces in the dumpster.

Dee stopped in to see Zalena's filly. She was impressed with how big this week old filly is. I'll have to get updated pictures and videos but it is raining again.
Oh my were we hopping at Berean today. We were able to get everything done but only because of our wonderful volunteers. Below is Diane R who was carefully organizing the studies.

 Below Eva Jean is just too busy to look up for a picture, she is waving off the camera but Roma was willing to wave with her fingers full of first class stamps.

 Chuck, Wes and Rachel were working on getting the studies stuffed until we used that table for Bibles. Rachel and Wes worked hard labeling hundreds of Bibles then hauled them out to Mark's van for the trip to the post office. By the time we finished with Bibles that work van was stuffed full.

Rachel Sauder stopped at Subway on her way in and brought us a fantastic lunch with amazing sandwiches, chips and cookies. We were so very thankful for the food and the break. This Thursday we almost had as much mail as a Tuesday. This program is growing again!
Dr. Hoerr was suppose to arrive at the farm at noon. He was sent a text to give me a 20 minute warning as I was working in Peoria so I could stay at work until the last second. We had just finished loading the last of the Bibles when I got the text so Mark and Spark went to the post office to unload. That saved my back so wear and tear. When I arrived at the farm Pat was there with her mare Whisper who was also here for an ultrasound. Whisper went first and sure enough, she is pregnant. The picture below is of her cute little 15 day old embryo by Evan.

Then it was Piper's turn. She also was confirmed in foal but the sire of her foal is Valiant.

Dr. Hoerr brought his AV out today so we could test Killian. Well wouldn't you know all the mares up in the close paddocks are now out of season or pregnant. The only one here still in was Jurista who was in the pond pasture all the way across the pond but she is a nervous mare so we had to sedate her first. Killian produced a generous amount of fluid with a lot of gel factor but when Dr. Hoerr went to test it there weren't as many swimmers as we would like to see on a 4 year old stallion. It isn't impossible for him to get a mare pregnant but the advice Dr. Hoerr gave us is to use him just as the mare ovulates or is ready to ovulate and not more than once a week.
Mark is going to be home late, the horses are fed, the water buckets full. Amazing but I have a free evening.
