Anna Pregnant

Dr. Hoerr arrived after 11:00 am and inserted the microchip in Ripper's neck first. I could not get his IALHA registration papers until the microchip was implanted and the proof sent in. Anna was next, she was sonagrammed in foal at 25 days.  Her colt is so fantastic we bred her back to Valiant for a repeat. She is due the first week of February 2016. 

Jenis was next, she needed her teeth floated but I also wanted to have Dr. Hoerr check her uterus. Everything is normal but she is still transitional, meaning not yet cycling this spring.
As soon as Dr. Hoerr left, Ripper was taken back to the cabin field, the other 2 mares put back out into the middle paddock, Lily fed and watered then I took off to return the table clothes and coffee makers. Rhoda needed to use 2 different rental shops to get enough table cloths. After dropping the last of the rental stuff at American Rental, it was time for a trip to Aldi for groceries here. We needed just about everything. On the way home I had to stop at Diane's office to sign the Incorporation papers then finally made it here at 2:30 pm to unload groceries, eat lunch and let the dogs out.
After lunch I took the golf cart back up to the barn to clean the stalls used this morning and check on Lily and her son. The pictures below were taken this morning after the walk.

He is thriving, nursing well and learning to get those long legs to trot around his mother.  He is a typical Valiant son, very friendly and curious. He would leave Lily to come over and check the camera out.

This is Lily's 3 year old daughter who just happens to share her birthday with her brother born today. She writes: Happy 3rd birthday to this beauty! She is such a blessing and our journey has just begun! 
When Emily got back from school today she and Mike took the flat bed trailer over to the neighbors and picked up 7 more round bales. We didn't really need the hay but when the neighbor offered his 4th cutting alfalfa bales to us for $60.00 a bale I couldn't turn him down. The horses love that hay and even a nursing mother will put on weight when on that. The middle paddock needed another bale so we put in one of those storing the other 6 in the big barn. Mike hauled 2 of our first cutting bales out to Middle Grove. The horses have now been moved from the winter pasture to the summer pasture and there is plenty of  last years grasses dried and brown but we still want them to have some green hay available while the grass slowly comes up. Today we didn't get much growing done. It is just down right cold and damp. Mark started a fire in the wood burner to warm up the house.
Now this blog post cannot end without at least one picture of Rhoda in her wedding dress. Rachel posted a few on Facebook as a teaser. I love how Rachel captured the sunbeam bathing Rhoda in light. She is SO very talented.
