Unexpected

Diane and I were going to take the day off at Berean Prison Ministry since Ellen called to tell us she was not able to get the stamps printed for the Bibles. I told mom I would be glad to let Molly out around 2:00 pm. Mom has quilting on Thursdays and then as long as she is in town does her grocery shopping. Mom always drops out of the walk after the first round. Well Diane decided on the second round of the walk to go in to Berean anyway. She had to make 5000 copies and I wanted to get a few pictures of the Thursday Jail ladies. What do you think happened with Molly? Yep we forgot to let her out. Thankfully Molly had no accidents in the house. Sorry mom! Her puppies eyes are starting to open and they are getting big.
We had a very busy day at Berean to see everything we got done and check out the Thursday Jail ladies just click on this link: Berean Prison Ministry Blog
By the time I got home Emily had just finished up working 2 of the stallions and was explaining everything she worked on with them. Valiant was worked in the outdoor arena while Missy and Cookie were grazing nearby. Usually Valiant just cannot keep his focus when there is a girl around but he is learning and today did very well.
After his work out she groomed him up well and braided up his mane and tail again. Killian was a bit naughty today. He so wanted to be with the girls that he threw in a buck. Sure glad Emily has great balance. She did not let him get away with his bad behavior. He has such wonderful walk to canter departs that every time Emily rides him she reports, "Now I remember why I love this horse!"
I wish I'd been home in time to see them being worked.
It was a cold damp windy day. Our winter coats were brought out and used. The picture below was taken yesterday and  is of Sue the cow and her day old bull calf. The last kind of warm day we will have for maybe months. We were watching him try out his legs while trying to run and buck. He was not very coordinated and of course we laughed each time he fell.
Emily will be taking him to her home in Forrest tomorrow to join Kenna, Goldie and their new bull calves. All three were born just a few days apart. The sire of the three bull calves is Emily's registered shorthorn bull she bought last summer. He is very fertile and is for rent for a very reasonable fee. He easily got all 3 of her cows pregnant the first try on all of them. He was rented out last summer to a lady that had ONE wild longhorn cow she wanted bred. Anyone with a small herd of cows this is a great way to get them pregnant without spending money to buy semen then artificially inseminate. I wish this service would have been available when I was milking our Jerseys.
