Skyline Benefit

The Skyline benefit auction and meal started at 4:00 pm, I was to be working in the kitchen at 5:30 pm and we wanted to have time to eat first and look at all the wonderful donated auction items before that so planned on picking up mom and leaving at 4:30 pm. Planning doesn't always go as planned.
We had a very busy day here working outside this gray chilly day expending lots of calories and energy cutting wood, planting and building. Mark picked Nick up and they started on stump removal just about the time Home Comfort came to spray in the last of the wall insulation. Dakota was teased and the stallions checked over. Killian has a cut on his left hind and his leg was a bit swollen. He was taken to the outdoor and checked for lameness. Thankfully none showing. His leg was cleaned up and treated.
Spark's family was busy cutting down trees and splitting logs all morning. The log splitter was taken to Joan's when Spark finished so she could get started on some of her piles.
Emily arrived to borrow the truck and trailer, she will be bringing one of her pregnant cows here. The cow is due next weekend and this is her first time calving so just in case she needs help she needs to be under a watch.
Mom came over to donate a few tulip bulbs for our landscaping project and stayed for a hot cup of tea bringing Molly with her. Molly is really showing her pregnancy, I think she is due next week. These puppies are purebred Shih Tzu puppies and will be for sale for only $300.00. They will not be registered as mom was not able to get Molly's papers. The male was the same size as Molly and also a black and white. Don't worry plenty of pictures will be placed on this blog. Mom already has one for sure sold.
At 4:00 pm when it was time to get cleaned up for the benefit Mark was no where to be found. I was afraid he was working too hard to notice the time and that just happened to be the case. I finally found him at 4:30 pm but he desperately need to clean up before going anywhere. We arrived at the fellowship hall at 5:15 pm giving me 15 minutes to bolt down a bowl of soup before heading into the kitchen to wash dishes. It actually felt good in the heat of the kitchen with my hands deep into the hot soapy water after being chilled all day. The auction is always a lot of fun. One lady donated 10 plates each holding a dozen cookies and each plate of cookies went for $90.00. She raised $900.00 for Skylines. There were 10 pies donated that went for $80.00 a pie. The Hermans donated a night in the teepees for 20 people at the Goose Ranch that went for over a thousand dollars. The auction was well attended and people were generous. The money raised is going to help update the assisted living area.
