Meet Miss Molly

It was hot this morning, so hot by the time I finished the feedings and started the walk I was already sweating. By the time the walk was over, Ruth arrived to show us the pictures and videos of Jordan, her grandson whom she kept for 4 days while Rebekah was volunteering at Jr high boys camp. Ruth was so funny, she use to wonder if she would enjoy watching her grandchildren well she exclaims, "It was SO much fun!" "I'm going to babysit him every chance I get."
Jordan is her first grandchild.
Karin hosted vaulting this morning, I stopped working to watch and take a few pictures.

Today must be the upside down day. Karin has divided the vaulters into 2 groups. These were the older more advanced vaulters.
Emily arrived back from her weeks vacation just in time to go with Rhoda and I to Middle Grove to drop off Jenis and Promise then pick up Lily, Zulu, Holly and Victoria. When we arrived Rhoda went in the side door of the trailer to unload Jenis, climbed on her and came bursting out.
They put an extra halter on Jenis for Holly and planned on using the one on Jenis for Lily. Emily climbed aboard and off they went to find the herd..
The herd was at the far end of the property, when they saw Jenis coming they came galloping across the fields to see who was arriving. That is one nice thing on Middle Grove, the horses are all so happy to see company.
All was going well with leading them back to the trailer until the herd started galloping for the shear joy of running. We couldn't believe they would want to run in this heat. The temperature was already in the upper 80s but soon came the sound of splashing. Holly's filly stayed with Rhoda and Holly, Lily's colt however did not stay with Lily and Emily. He took off running with his sister Rosalie all the way back to the herd. Sangria led them right to a big puddle, threw herself down and had a good roll. The rest soon followed.

From there they migrated to the trees and settled down for naps.
Once Lily's colt was hooked up again with his mother Emily was able to lead them to the trailer without incident. Rosalie insisted on coming. In the picture below Emily is leading Lily, followed by year old Rosalie and then her 2013 colt Zulu.
By the time Emily arrived at the trailer Rhoda had already loaded Holly and Victoria in the front. Prissy, Anna, Oksana and Hadassah were hanging around in hopes of a trailer ride. Emily had to halter and tie Rosalie to keep her out of the trailer.
By the time we were on our way home we were all extremely thirsty from the long hike in the heat so stopped at McDonalds for water and ice cream. As the girls were getting the drinks I checked my email and found that the lady interested in Holly emailed that as soon as Holly was confirmed in foal she would like to buy her. Hoerr Vet clinic was called and they could get us in right away. We dropped off Rhoda, haltered Zulu and Victoria, arrived at the clinic, got both mares sonagramed AND confirmed in foal and got Zulu's coggins drawn all within 30 minutes. That has to be a record.
When we got back to the farm Emily pulled Killian out to see if he remembered his lessons before his vacation at Middle Grove and was pleasantly surprised. He is such a good boy.

Now meet our new family member Miss Molly. Diane and mom drove to Streator, IL and bought her.
Molly is a 2 and a half year old purebred Shih Tzu. She weighs in at a whopping 12 pounds. She is house trained and has impeccable manners. We are thrilled for mom and mom is thrilled with Molly. Molly needed a home and mom needed a dog, a match made in heaven!
An older couple traveling from Mansfield, OH to Oregon stopped at mom's for the night just as we were introducing Molly to Ebby. All went well so mom brought her company over to see the horses. Mark spent the evening working on Evan's electric fence. Emma was still in and was covered this evening by Evan. Sarah watched  Braelyn and Taegan here most of the day and I only got to play with them for a short time.
