Another Early Morning Trip

There was no walking today, Emma and Jenis had an 8:00 am vet appointment in Morton, IL. I should have been on the road by 7:20 but there was just one small problem. I lost Emma. Emma and Jenis were placed in stalls this morning for a quick groom and to be fly sprayed down well. Jenis was loaded then when I went into the barn to get Emma her stall door was wide open and she was gone. I thought Emily might have led her out to the trailer but Emily was in the apartment. It was the sound of Valiant neighing that gave me the first clue, Emma had let herself out and gone visiting the boys. She is coming into season. Oh well I wasn't that late.
Jenis was first up, she was sonagrammed, cultured and infused. She is not in season, it looks like she ovulated about a week ago. When it was Emma's turn she was sonagrammed showing multiple small follicles with the largest only about a 32 mm. She was also cultured and infused. Depending on what the culture shows tomorrow we may be breeding her on this cycle.
When I got back from the vet Ribbon and Whisper were teased and both are now out. The girls were over swimming at mom's so I finally sat down at the computer and started filling out paper work to get the foals registered. There are 6 foals so far but 2 of them still don't have names so those will be sent in with the next batch. The other 4 are named by the people buying them so that paper work was filled out and is now ready to mail tomorrow.
Ayanna is starting to show a bit of waxing. Emily took her on a slow walking ride on the easy trails so Faith could follow with Misty then when they got back Ayanna was stalled and tested.

She is testing at only 150 so we have some time but Ayanna needs to learn to be comfortable in a stall. She has never been made to stay in one. She was given a good groom and some grain.
Whisper was picked up tonight. She will bring her back in 3 weeks for an ultrasound. I need to call Dr. Hoerr and schedule that. Hopefully we can share the farm call with her and have some of our mares done at the same time.
Marika was brought in for the night just to keep Ayanna company tonight. That means work for the morning. Eliza and Zalena were brought over from the cabin and placed in the pasture next to Valiant's. Eliza is now coming into season and Zalena should be if she didn't settle. Their foals are so cute playing together. Speaking of cute. Each morning when I run over to the cabin to feed Eliza's filly makes me laugh and today was no exception. She plopped herself down on the cabin porch while waiting for Eliza to finish her grain.
