Winter Weather

Yesterday afternoon in church was our Sunday school Christmas program and church was full. We came in a bit late (too much visiting over the lunch hour) and had to sit up in the balcony. That turned out to be a real blessing in disguise. When the young group got up to sing there were only 13 girls up on the risers and over 30 guys. The small group of girls started to sing and the next thing we heard music coming from the sides of the sanctuary. There were 2 more groups of sisters singing from either side toward the back. Rachel called it a flash mob singing. I'm not sure if that was what it was but it was so beautiful. The sister's blend was perfect and the music floated through the sanctuary all the way up to the balcony. Those seats turned out to be the best seats in the house! We could see all three groups and hear perfectly. When the 2 groups from the back joined the main group the front of the church was packed with singers. How blessed it is for us old folks to see and hear our youth singing praises to our Lord.
It seems as though winter weather is here to stay and we'd better start getting use to it. We got at least another inch of snow on top of the 6-8 inches already on the ground. It started snowing while we were out Christmas caroling and by the time we were done with the delicious meal and wonderful fellowship of kindred souls the roads were again slick. Our driveways were the worst.
Spark and Rhonda slid into the ditch by the mail boxes. Rhonda was sitting in the car and Spark was walking up to the barn to get the skid steer when we drove right past them. We had mom's car and her's doesn't have snow tires on like our car. Too bad we took her car last night when we tried to get up the farm driveway Mark only made it about half way before it started sliding backward. He backed down the hill and tried to get a run at it but the second time didn't even get as far before sliding backward. The third time he backed  up enough to make the turn and go straight to mom's barely making it up that more gradual slope. We had to walk home from mom's house but at least her car is in the garage.
The picture below is an old one of Raven standing next to blue spruce tree by Diane's pond. That snowfall was about 3 inches and we thought it was so pretty.
Mark has a wonderful fire going in the wood burner and is already out shoveling our patio and walk ways. I'd better get off the computer and start breakfast, he is going to be hungry when he comes back in from the cold.
