We knew we needed to haul out of here with the first load of horses by 11:00am in order to get both loads at Norris before the girls arrived. That meant the morning was busy. Thank goodness for an extra few pair of hands. Rhoda, Emily, Sarah Elizabeth, Sarah Marlene, Mark and I got everything done with time to spare. The middle paddock got a new bale, the cows were watered, Eliza got covered, hoses got repaired, horses brought over from the cabin and tacked and by 11:01 we pulled out with the first load. When we arrived with the first load the horses were unloaded quickly. Rhoda and Emily were in charge of keeping them contained until I could get back with the trailer. Karin and Mike already had the second load of horses tacked and waiting up at the gravel road by the time I pulled up at Middle Grove. By the time I made it back to the Herman Lake in the Sky there were kids riding the first load.

Once the horses were all fly sprayed and tied it was time for lunch.
It was really cute watching the very determined kids climb on all by them selves in order to ride.
Marilyn Baurer, Darlene Hoerr and Rhonda helped Beth prepare a very nice lunch for the workers which hit the spot especially the soft serve ice cream for dessert. Dale Geyer had a nice prayer for asking for safety the campers. While up at the lodge the kids showed us the 2 baby robins they are feeding.
Right about then the vans and buses started to arrive. This camp is huge. We watched the 4 vehicles below pulling up plus numerous car loads.
When they unload it is always so impressive. They gather around for a few instructions before being turned loose.
And when they are released the ones that want to ride horses come at a run.
There are many many activities going on all at once. The picture below shows just a small part of this camp. Kids lined up for the rope swing, up on the double decker dock, going down the water slide, taking boat rides. The Hermans have canoes, kayaks, row boats and just about any other kind of floating device.
Below are the trail riders but on the road above them is the mule bringing another load of girls for riding.
While waiting for the horses to get back I took a picture of this redwing blackbird
He was watching the horses closely, his mate had a nest close to the trails. There were plenty of bumble bees buzzing in the flowers.
There was a constant line for the riding. We figured out by going 7 at a time we were able to give over a hundred rides in the hours allotted. By the time I made it back from the camp it was after 5:00pm. Mike wanted the 4 horses from that trailer trip all in the cabin field together as he has out of town company coming on Monday. He wants Emily to take them for trail rides. We have a mare coming in for breeding on Monday from Kentucky and the owner wants to stay the night in the apartment. Dr. Hoerr is coming for ultrasounds on Monday. I'm glad we have Emily!
