Fun Wet Ride

We had a really great Sunday. After church a storm started to roll in so we made our way to Gil's Supper Club. What was funny about that was who we kept running into. Connie and Dave Hoerr came in right behind us, then Chad and Julie with their girls and Julie's parents, The Plattners came wandering in next, Amy Beth's inlaws then as we were leaving the Kellenbergers were coming in. Gils really is the only restaurant in Hanna City so I guess it wasn't that unusual. After dinner 5 of the Friesians were saddled up for a trail ride. We told Alicia Cooksey since she was the oldest rider she would be on Jenis. She promptly walks over to Ayanna and mounts. When she was informed that wasn't Jenis, she was quick to get off and get on the right mare. We laughed. Then Emily mounts Killian, looks down at his mane where he destroyed it by rubbing it off and exclaims, "Indy has just ruined her mane!" Rhoda looks over at Indy and says, "it doesn't look bad, " Emily picks up some of the remnants of Killian's mane and moans, "just look at what she did." When Rhoda told Emily, "you are on Killian, not Indy" we really started laughing. They mounted up with Rhoda on Ayanna, Mitchell Cooksey on Indy, Mikalya Cooksey on Zalena, Alicia Cooksey on Jenis and Emily on 2 year old Killian. Below they are heading out.
The 4 mares and their riders posed for a picture.
When Killian joined them, Rhoda, in the middle with Ayanna showed us her bow.
They rode the death trails, then ended up on the far north side of the 85 acres. Below they are taking a break to discuss where to ride next.
And they are off.
Below the horses are at a flat out gallop with Indy in the lead followed closely by Jenis and Zalena 3rd.
Emily reports that Killian has a wonderful smooth canter. It looked like they were flying.
Notice how far his back leg steps under. This is going to be really nice stallion!
Alicia and Jenis made a great pair.
They were hot after riding so long and headed over to swim to cool off.
Diane's swimming pond was busy with Rachel's company.
So they rode over to the big lake.
They had to pass the usual Sunday evening volleyball players

They decided to swim across the lake from Joan's house over to the playground. Below they are lined up left to right, Killian, Indy, Zalena, Ayanna with Jenis in the lead.
Jenis is such a great mare! This lake gets deep and it was a pretty long swim to the other side.
Jenis followed by Indy and Ayanna head into the deep water. In the picture below they are about a 3rd of the way across. Mike told the riders how to hold mane and float to not hinder the horses on the swim.

Jenis as she starts to climb the bank.
The Horses were well behaved and it was a really great day.
