Welcoming Isaac
The first few sprinkles arrived just after 6:00pm last evening. Mark had just finished the mowing around the farm house. The rain tapping gently on the roof was so welcome. The 2 mares with new foals were moved inside before the rain started. All evening and during the night the gentle rain continued. We haven't had lightning, thunder or wind, just a nice steady welcome rain.
Sangria should be covered today if still in. She was not covered yesterday to give Raven a day off. Prissy also needs to be covered. According to weather.com we are to have a short break in the showers around 8:00am and both can be tried then.
The most exciting news came from Steven Marchal. He found a company near Springfield, IL that collects, freezes and stores stallion semen. With Raven's knees in such bad shape we don't know how much longer we will have him around. Even though we have 2 other proven stallions and one up and coming, Raven's offspring have been so spectacular we don't want to lose the option of a Raven foal in the future.
