moving bales

Shopping is not my favorite activity but today it was necessary. Three different grocery stores were visited for best buys. It is our turn to serve lunch at choir tomorrow so Sam's was visited, Mark and I are serving dinner at church on Wednesday so Kroger was visited and finally Aldi was the last stop to pick up rice crispy cereal, marshmallows, butter and a few other items to make dessert for Wednesday. The afternoon was spent making 4 pans of rice crispy treats. After a dinner of left over steak and salad, Mark came out to move in 2 new round bales for 2 different paddocks. The first was put in just before a band of rain came through. The bale feeder was positioned and before the gate could be shut Jewel and her foal ran out and into the field. They were just left and in we came out of the rain. The rain stopped after about a half hour and Jewel came running back. Once they were put in, Mark came with the next bale. This was put in the first paddock, then Jenis, Eliza and their fillies were moved into that paddock but when they were being moved Sangria, her colt and Paris came running out with them. Paris went straight over to the stallion paddock so Sangria and her colt were put back first then Paris taken to the 4th paddock to be put in with Ella and Bonnie. Jewel and her filly needed to be moved from the that paddock to the middle paddock. Jewel came right up but her filly was taking a nap in the shelter and refused to follow her mom. She is quite the stinker, she had to be convinced this is where she was suppose to go before she finally gave in. Just as the last horse was where she needed to be the rain started back up. We are now in for the night and will settle down with a good book for the rest of the evening.
