Hip Replacement

As we were getting ready to start our walk, the early morning sun shining on the bright green grasses with black horses in the background made such a pretty picture.

The bird egg shell below is what we usually see a bit later in the spring. This egg probably did not hatch, it looks more like a something stole it out of the nest crushed the shell and ate the developing bird.

The neighbors around here are at war with each other. Daisy the duck has laid eggs in the nest on the raft and those pesky geese couple keep trying to claim the nest. Below Daisy is beside herself, enlisting the help of Donald and son, trying to scare those awful neighbors off of her eggs.

My after surgery 6 week check up was today at 9:30am. Dr. Mulvey's Physician assistant Andrew Reese came in first and was good enough to bring up both sets of x-rays and explain everything very clearly to me.

Of course I think Dr. Mulvey and his assistants are miracle workers. Six weeks ago I couldn't walk and today not only am I walking but I can run!
The before x-ray is first. Notice how the left side of the picture is collapsed making my bad hip (the right) leg longer. Remember this is a mirror image.

Andrew was showing me with a small arrow where the tear drop is collapsed. The ball joint no longer has any cartilage to stop it from digging into the socket which caused the sharp bone on bone pain.
I've drawn triangles on the picture below to show how now the tear drop on both sides are equal. Click on the picture for a bigger view.

According to Dr. Mulvey and research this new hardware should last the rest of my life. There are still a few weeks of precautions but each day gets better. Truly this surgeon is a miracle worker!
