The Eye Injury

Sangria was loaded up and taken out to the farm early this morning knowing we would need the truck and trailer for a vet appointment for Walker Sally's filly as soon as possible. The vet clinic was called right at 8:00am but the earliest appointment we could get was noon. This left time enough for Sanna to be loaded up and taken to Bridlewood, breakfast, then back to the farm to load the filly. We planned extra time not knowing how she would load by herself but she walked right in the trailer, no hesitation at all. We were a half hour early but Dr. Pallen didn't keep us waiting long. The filly was put in stocks and the debris cleaned off the eyelid which is just hanging.

She caught her eyelid on the bucket hanger and must have pulled straight up to tear the lid so badly.

Dr. Pallen sedated her pretty well then started the clean up.

The suturing went well as long as she was quiet only having to be reminded a few times to hold still. Of course she is pretty sedated.

All done and looking so much better.

We headed home but before getting to the end of the road, the vet clinic called, had us go back for a tetanus shot. Always a good idea with an injury.
Back to the farm, unload the filly and start walking her to the stall when Aragon stuck his head out for a picture, in his mind he is probably wondering if Ayanna is eating something good on that side of the shelter.

The filly was given her sulpha and triple antibiotic eye ointment, then park the trailer and head home for lunch. TSC will be next on the list for more bedding.
Six bags of equine fresh was purchased at TSC then off to Aldi's where $70.00 was spent on groceries. While shopping Spark called to remind me he is leaving at 5:45am for Jacksonville State Prison and needs Bibles and studies for the re entry program.
Down to the warehouse to put everything needed on the rolling cart ready for tomorrow.
Tonight the main dish for dinner is chicken alfredo. This will be my first time to try this recipe but it looks easy and good.
