Cold Morning Walk

When I got to the farm this morning both ponies were standing quietly at the gate waiting to be let IN. A lead rope was inside so when I grabbed it this was what it was covered in. They sure find ways to keep warm. It was down to 30 degrees this morning but is to warm up nicely. Raven was fed, the ponies moved inside the gate and mares were checked. Bunni is due early May and she was up front asking to come out so after the walk she was brought out and checked. Turned out she just wanted the green grass. She is not bagged up at all. Then it was time to join the dog whisperer, I mean yeller, my mom. I could hear her yelling at Heidi from the farm and Heidi howling back at her. Heidi is always impatient to get this walk started and starts howling at mom to move, mom is telling her to be quiet and lay down extremely loud as she has to talk over all the howling, then once on the walk, Heidi is bowling over Emma and Studly so mom has to yell at her to quit. Our walks are so peaceful we are amazed at all the wildlife we miss.
Mom is surrounded by Emma, Abby, Studly, Ellie and Heidi with Darcy just too regal to join in. Below is mom coming back from Joan's the dog in front is Abby (Tara's dog) then Emma, left to right is Ellie, & Studly both Karin's dogs and finally Heidi to mom's right. Darcy refuses to walk with the rabble. We are missing Ebby, Diane's dog. Ruth is puppy sitting with her last night.
The mist coming off the lake as we are walking to Rachel's is beautiful. The dogs run for the water and scare off the geese. Cathie Trent brought the ducks, Donald and Daisy, back after caring for them all winter. As Rachel was taking the picture the 2 geese flew in and landed on the water. Then it is time to start walking back over the dam from Rachel's house. Below is a shot of mom, five of the dogs and me, again missing Darcy, she stays up at the car waiting to go home.
On the way back to Peoria a huge and I mean HUGE wild Tom Turkey and his hen crossed Smithville road right in front of me.
